RIP: Laurence St.Leger (UK)

It’s with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Laurence Roy St.Leger.
A giant in the world of miniatures, Laurence and his wife Angela have been delighting people with their high quality miniatures and miniature automata for over 40 years. Exhibiting all over the world they are esteemed in the Dollshouse community for their humour, perfect craftsmanship and eye for detail.
In 2015 Laurence won the inaugural Perfection in Miniature Award (PIMA) at the Kensington Dollshouse festival, for his intricately detailed, fully working miniature Swiss Army knife, complete with tweezers, toothpick, scissors and multiple blades. A life time collector and penknife obsessive it was a dream project and a real labour of love.
Although he never thought of himself as an artist Laurence was incredibly imaginative especially when pushing what could be done on such a small scale and problem solving mechanisms and processes to make things as accurate as possible.
In 2020 Laurence and Angela won a second PIMA with their joint entry of a working gents umbrella.
Beyond the world of miniatures Laurence was an incredibly funny, kind and generous man with passion for fishing, aeroplanes, kites and all things Nelson based. He loved nothing more than hanging out with his family and being incredibly silly.
Laurence had a huge influence on many and was a creative inspiration in his field. A few words on Facebook can’t begin to tell of the loss we all feel. He will be greatly missed not only as a creator of beautiful objects but also as a loving husband, father and Grandfather.
Laurence is survived by his wife Angela and his two sons Samuel and Henry.
