Ich hatte schon früher auf Ivan Black hingewiesen. Hier nun ein Video , das mit dreieinhalb Minuten Länge mehr Werke des Künstlers kompiliert.
Vorgestern wurde die Dauerschau des Schlosses an der Elbe mit einem neuen Teil eröffnet, der ein modernes interaktives Museumserlebnis verspricht, und dabei mit einer Kugelbahn von meinem Freund Hanns-Martin (Sinnwerkstatt) . Cecilia Schiller’s neuestes Automatenwerk ist ein Überraschungsgeschenk, das für den 90jährigen Künstler Cy de Crosse von seiner Ehefrau Paula in Auftrag gegeben wurde. Im Begleittext des FBautomata… heißt es dazu :
„Cy is an amazing multi-talented artist and Paula wanted the piece to reflect the history of his storied career. I met her on the sly and she took me to his studio while he was away. I was surprised by the diversity of his work and by the fact that many of his sculptures shared some of the themes and a sense of humor apparent in my own work. I recognized a kindred spirit.The very first image Paula showed me was a self-portrait by Cy of himself as a multi-armed magician. As a youngster Cy dreamed of becoming a magician and in my opinion, became one as a professional artist. Cy’s self-portrait was lively and perfect for translating into an automaton. As I delved in a little deeper I found other imagery I wanted to include, such as: The Roman-Greco backdrop representing Cy’s home-away-from-home, Florence, Italy; the owl was the mascot for his business; the military figures marching across the cornice are taken from his machine series of photographs; the perspective floor and yellow back wall of the gear understory were inspired by another recent painting by Cy, “the Idea Brain”. Virtually every part of this automaton has a reference to some part of Cy’s career, the hypnotic pinwheel is representative of his time as an ad-man convincing us to use “foaming bubbles” or eat Pringles! Even the gears are cut with imagery that references his artwork.“

Heute las ich in Atlas Obscura den neuen Artikel über 10 ungewöhnliche Verkaufsautomaten. Darunter auch den der kalifornischen Hühnerfarm Glaum Ranch
Hier gibt es nach der Bezahlung und Eierausgabe ein kurzes mechanisches Theater, in dem eine Reihe von Hühnern zur swingenden Melodie Glenn Millers „In the Mood“ tanzt !
US East Coast Entertainer Max Droge hat gerade dieses Video-Schätzchen eines mechanischen Reckturners herausgebracht, zu dem er im FBautomata… noch weitere Infos erfragt. Was direkt aus dem Video erfahrbar ist, es handelt sich um eine Vorstellung aus Caesar’s Palace , Las Vegas, (1976 ?). Der Vorführer Alain Cabooter (Dank für diese Auskunft an Kevin Wright) ist der Schöpfer und Spieler dieser Figur Ioni . Er hat 10 Jahre für die Fertigstellung gebraucht. Eine ähnliche Figur aus den 50ger Jahren findet sich im Münchner Stadtmuseum, die ich hier vor etwa 4 Monaten erwähnt habe.
Ein neues Werk des namhaften japanischen Papiermechanik-Künstlers Haruki Nakamura, jedoch kein Papierfaltobjekt, sondern ein 3-D-gedrucktes Plastikobjekt. Welche Komplikation ! Leider fand ich keine Zusatzinfos.
Heute früh starb Little Richard im Alter von 87 Jahren. Manche sagen, er sei der Erfinder des Rock ’n Roll. Sein ekstatischer Gesangsstil in Zusammenspiel mit hart rockendem Piano und den E-Gitarren und Saxophonen der Begleitband brachten den Big Bang in die damalige populäre Musik. Ich war 16 Jahre alt , als 1957 sein Lucille herauskam.
Im gleichen Jahr hatten die Everly Brothers mit dem gleichen Song einen großen Erfolg, für mich jedoch ein fade Musiksauce im Vergleich mit der kochenden schwarzen Rock ’n Roll Musik.
